A Cold Beer in The Sun

This week's Wednesday Sun has a cover story on the brewery, highlighting our expansion, distribution territory and recent industry news. Enjoy the entire article by clicking here, but there is one minor correction — we're proud to sell close to 30% of our beer in the state of Missouri, not just in Kansas City. That's our Visitor Center Associate, Ms. Kaitlyn Stout (yes, that's her real last name), pointing out a spot on my shirt.

Modern Marvel

The July 28th issue of Modern Brewery Age, a weekly industry e-newsletter, includes a glowing review of Boulevard Saison. With a top beer (five out of five mugs) rating, one member of the expert tasting panel even commented, "this is the template that all craft brewers should use for their saisons." That's quite a compliment; after reading this I went out and bought two bottles to celebrate!

Flavors of the Midwest

Boulevard beers were mentioned in a piece entitled "Locavore Resources: Midwest" for the August issue of Food & Wine magazine. Cheers to our friends at Smithville's Justus Drugstore for the inclusion of our Smokestack Series in the piece!

All Access

Take a peek inside—and on top of—the entire brewery, featuring areas and operations not seen during tours, in this wonderful video courtesy of The Kansas City Star. Watch out for Payton's close-up though, it may be a little too close.

The Sale of the Century

There's no question this has been a historic week for the beer industry. No one in our business has seen a deal of this magnitude, so it's difficult to grasp the true scale of the transaction, or the impact that it will have on the market. Beer is a global business, but with local roots; it remains to be seen what kind of changes the new owners will have in store for our neighbors across the state. We certainly hope that any changes will not be unfavorable to Missouri's economy. To read more about Boulevard's position relative to the A-B/InBev deal, click over to the Kansas City Star's article published this week.

Boulevard offers Free Tours

KMBC-TV Channel 9's Kris Ketz gets a first-hand look at a Boulevard tour experience in this video story. As Mr. Ketz points out, our tours are free but reservations are required. Click here to book your reservation with us online. When you arrive, ask Neile if we're "brewing."

Business in Action

On May 18, 2008 Boulevard was featured on a segment of KSHB-TV Channel 41's Business in Action series. Host and veteran newscaster Mark Clegg paid a visit to the brewery and sampled a few beers with our founder and president, John McDonald. View the segment by clicking here.

Saison featured in Tastebud Magazine

Smokestack Series Saison is featured in the July issue of Tastebud magazine, a local publication dedicated "food, drink, places and people." The author points out several reasons why Saison is the perfect beer for Summer, and offers many excellent food pairing suggestions. Click here to view the article.

Double-Wide on the Spot

Cheers to Mike Averill and our friends at the Tulsa World newspaper for naming Double-Wide I.P.A. the "Beer of the Week" for July 14-18. Mike recommends sharing this "wonderful sipping beer" with a drinking buddy — so the next time you're in Tulsa, grab a bottle of our twister-proof ale and pay him a visit. As long as you're buying, we're sure he won't mind.
